About CUET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the Common University Entrance Test (CUET - UG) for admissions to undergraduate courses in various central, state, private, & many other universities in India. More than 250 universities (including 47 central universities, like DU, BHU, JNU, JMI, Allahabad University, University of Hyderabad, etc.) fall under the purview of CUET and will accept only CUET scores as the basis of UG admission.

CUET UG FAQs

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an entrance exam for UG admissions to 217 universities, including 47 Central Universities (like DU, BHU, JMI, JNU, AMU, University of Allahabad, and University of Hyderabad). The exam will test a student's language aptitude, subject knowledge, and general mental ability.

In case of a tie between 2 or more students with the same CUET score choosing the same college and course, their class 12th Board marks (Best of 3, 4, and 5 subsequently) will be considered. Yet, in a tie, the age will be the final tiebreaker. The older student will get the seat.

The CUET scores will be used for UG admissions to undergraduate courses of 47 Central Universities, including Delhi University, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, JNU, AMU, University of Allahabad, and University of Hyderabad.

CUET 2026 will be conducted in a online mode by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

CUET syllabus comprises the complete NCERT syllabus of class 12 for respective subjects. CUET is designed to evaluate one's understanding of language, knowledge of subjects studied in class XII and general reasoning and quantitative skills.

For every correct attempt, 5 marks will be awarded. For every incorrect attempt, 1 mark will be deducted. There will be no penalty for unattempted questions.

CUET 2026 will be conducted in a single slot for online and offline modes. The detailed timings will be announced later.

Any student who has passed their class XII Boards or is appearing for it in the current year can fill out the application form and seek admission to any participating universities.

Going by the previous experiences of CUET, the test is expected to be moderately difficult to easy. CUET is a mix of General Ability Tests, language understanding, and subjects studied in class XII. One can excel and score well if one is determined and focused, coupled with the right approach, practice, and preparation.

The registration process for CUET 2026 will Tentatively start at the end of February.
